EnerGuard offers a wide variety of glass options for your new windows; from dual to triple pane, clear or obscure, with or without grilles (see GRILLES). We manufacture a high efficiency window that has been engineered with support in place for triple glazed units. Our glass is manufactured in Canada by one of the leading glass suppliers to the North American construction marketplace. Non-conductive EdgeTech Super Spacer®, Argon gas filled air chambers and Low-E coatings, offer the best in performance and technology available in glass today. Our Solar Controlled Low-E Glass is engineered to create the perfect balance between the right amount of Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), while allowing a high percentage of visible light to pass through. This combination produces an excellent Light to Solar Gain (LSG) ratio, along with exceptional insulating performance, as evidenced by its winter nighttime U-value.
Dual Pane, Low-E glass , with Argon Gas filled air chamber. EnerGuard’s EG-S2 is a good choice for those seeking high performance and energy efficiency in a dual pane glass unit. EG-S2 glass is available with all EnerGuard window models: 100 Series Hoppers, 500 Series Sliders and Single Hungs, 1200 Series & 1600 Series window systems.
English U-value .24 / Metric U-value 1.39 / R-value 4.16 / SHGC 40% / Visible Light Transmittance 72%
Triple Pane, Low-E glass , with Argon Gas filled air chamber. EnerGuard’s EG-S3 is our most popular glass option. EG-S3 is a better choice for year round comfort, performance and energy efficiency. EG-S3 glass is available with EnerGuard window models: 100 Series Hoppers (some sizing limitations), 1200 Series & 1600 Series window systems.
English U-value .18 / Metric U-value 1.04 / R-value 5.56 / SHGC 36% / Visible Light Transmittance 66%
Triple Pane, Low-E glass , with Argon Gas filled air chambers. EnerGuard’s EG-S3+ is our best and most energy efficient glass option. EG-S3+ combines two Low-E coatings, plus both air chambers Argon Gas filled, to achieve superior performance & energy efficiency. EG-S3+ glass is available with EnerGuard’s 100 Series Hoppers (some sizing limitations), 1200 Series & 1600 Series window systems.
English U-value .12 / Metric U-value .69 / R-value 8.33 / SHGC 34% / Visible Light Transmittance 59%
Are you warming up? With EnerGuard’s Low-E glass, winter blues will be a distant memory due to our glass low emissivity rating, which calculates to higher center of glass R-values in winter. No other residential glass product provides better insulating value, helping your furnace do its work to keep your interior temperature warm and comfortable.
Argon is the third most common gas in the Earth’s atmosphere. Argon is colourless, odourless, and nontoxic as a solid, liquid, and gas. It is used in place of air in sealed glass units. Argon gas increases thermal insulation and improves energy efficiency when used in combination with low-e coatings. It is for this reason that all EnerGuard glass options (EG-S2, EG-S3, and EG-S3+) include Argon gas filled air chambers.
This chart demonstrates how Low-E Coatings when combined with Argon gas can dramatically improve the thermal performance and energy efficiency of sealed glass units.
Note: adding grilles & SDL’s (see grilles under the products tab) will change glass energy performance. Additional information on energy values can be found in the Energy Star® section of our site.
